WebsiteHow can we offer our customers the opportunity of ordering groceries online, while making sure that the turnover benefits the local merchants?
That question was posed by REMA 1000 Denmark in 2015, and the answer turned out to be REMA 1000 med Vigo.
REMA 1000 med Vigo was launched in October 2016 as a digital platform that facilitates REMA 1000 customers in Denmark ordering and shopping groceries for one another in the local REMA 1000 store.
Through https://shop.rema1000.dk/ and the app REMA 1000 med Vigo, customers can order groceries from their local REMA 1000 store. The groceries are then picked, packed, transported, and delivered to the customers address by other customers, registered as Vigo-shoppers in the app. The price for delivery paid by the customer goes directly to the Vigo-shopper.
Today the platform has 370 000 registered users and in January of 2021, REMA 1000 med Vigo reached an impressive milestone: every 10th second during opening-hours, groceries are delivered to the home of a happy customer!
REMA 1000 med Vigo contributes to:
- Sustain local stores: All the groceries ordered through the platform, are shopped in a local REMA 1000 store and the turnover therefore benefits the local merchant.
- Making e-commerce more environmentally friendly: The groceries are not delivered from a central storage, but directly from a local REMA 1000 store. Therefore, the transport effort is limited and at the same time we notice that 60 % of the orders are delivered by foot, 30 % by bike and only 10 % by car.
- Involve customers and thereby facilitate strong, local communities: The platform allows customers to shop for one another and deliver a bag of groceries to their next-door neighbor, while they are already in the local REMA 1000 store shopping for themselves.

PBX is the newest brand in REITAN CONVENIENCE SWEDEN, and a result of our sustainability strategy with 12 ambitious goals we established in 2019. One of these is that we will have a net-zero company by 2030, and in that same year, we will also have a circular strategy in place, with a Zero Waste target. With PBX, we aim to define future sustainability in the convenience industry, today and tomorrow. PBX is a “living lab”, where the work never stops. PB stands for Pressbyrån and X for innovation and future. The shop is an important tool for testing and experimenting, so we can identify the most long-term and sustainable frameworks for future convenience. What works, will be implemented in all our shops. We believe this is the fastest and most effective way for us as a company to create change.
That’s why we’re now starting at the beginning. Starting with searching for the best, most sustainable solutions for everything; for how we build the shop, how we reduce energy consumption and, naturally, which products we offer. At PBX, our customers can rest assured they will find the most sustainable alternative available on the market in the respective categories. This could be brand-new packaging, or maybe no packaging at all. Or fewer and better ingredients that are easy to trace. And of course, products that are sustainable at every stage.
With the lessons we learn in PBX, we can work quickly on a sustainable transition for our other shops. Our ambition is that the lessons we learn from PBX could even be shared broadly through the sector and the broader business community. With PBX, we aim to create a business model with a positive footprint; from a green and social, as well as from a financial perspective!

WebsiteSolvinge is tasty chicken that customers can eat with a good conscience.
In 2018, Norsk Kylling cooperated with the Norwegian Animal Protection Alliance on one of the largest campaigns ever conducted for animal welfare in Norway. By switching to a better and healthier race of chickens, they substantially improved animal welfare for 30% of the chickens in Norway. For the customers, this means they can buy the Solvinge brand and know that animal welfare has been safeguarded.
To a great extent, animal welfare is about how slowly the chicken grows. The chicken race Solvinge now uses in its production grows slower, and lives longer than regular chickens.
In addition to switching the race, all Solvinge farmers have upgraded the environment in the henhouses, including adding bales of hay and stands the chickens can climb on. This is particularly important for the Solvinge chicken, which is an extremely active and healthy race. This is good news both for animal welfare and taste.
Norsk Kylling’s Solvinge products include items such as chicken cold cuts, minced chicken, chicken fillets, grilled products, chicken wings, chicken thighs, salad-ready meat and whole chickens. The Solvinge products are only sold at REMA 1000.

WebsiteKolonihagen joined the REMA family in 2016. Since then, we have spearheaded REMA 1000’s drive for quality sustainable products, and developed more than 150 products exclusively for REMA. All these products are carefully selected so customers can rest assured that this is more than good taste and quality. The products are also produced in harmony with nature in a sustainable and ethical manner.
In 2020, sales of Kolonihagen products were 40% higher than in 2019, and we launched 63 new products. This indicates a growing desire on the part of customers for sustainable, high-quality products.
DOUBLED THE VOLUME OF NORWEGIAN-PRODUCED OATS
Kolonihagen’s objective is 100% Norwegian-produced, organic oats in all our products by 2023, and we’ve made good progress toward this goal. We received Norwegian oats from just one farmer when the project started in 2019. This number has grown to four in 2021, and the volume has increased from 60 to a projected yield of more than 400 tonnes!
NORWAY’S FIRST EGGS WITH THE ANIMAL WELFARE LABEL
Kolonihagen is the first shop in Norway to offer eggs with the animal welfare label! These eggs became available on 22 February in REMA 1000 shops around the country. The animal welfare label guarantees that the hens have had more room, freedom to move about, more natural food, and the opportunity to play and explore.
Three egg producers meet the requirements for the Animal Welfare Stamp, and all of them deliver to Kolonihagen. Another producer will be coming on board soon.
VILT OG FANGST (GAME AND CATCH)
In the fall of 2020, Kolonihagen launched the Vilt og Fangst product line.
Venison is probably the most sustainable and natural meat you can get hold of, and the demand for these products is rising. The reindeer meat in the product line comes from four hunting parties in Jotunheimen and Finnmark, and is available in both fresh and frozen form.
The first products were cuts from reindeer, deer and moose, and we are working to develop processed products such as minced patties, sausages and cured products for the 2021 season.Related links
WebsiteKjeldsberg is a local coffee roaster in Trondheim, steeped in long traditions and a strong passion for coffee. Since 1856, the company has focused on making the best coffee, and delivers its product to fill coffee cups and Norwegian hearts with everyday joy.
At Kjeldsberg, raw materials are selected with the greatest care. To ensure a first-class taste experience and quality at every stage, Kjeldsberg is involved through the entire process – from selecting the best beans all the way to when the coffee is packed in the characteristic, yellow bags designed to preserve flavour. The product line includes both filter-ground, coffee capsules, French press, coarse-ground coffee, instant coffee and whole beans.
As the only coffee producer in Norway, all coffee from Kjeldsberg is certified through RFA or Fairtrade. But taste is not the only focus at Kjeldsberg. Kjeldsberg Kaffe is the only large-scale coffee producer in Norway to exclusively produce certified coffee. The products are either RFA or Fairtrade-certified, some are certified in both systems and certain products are also double-certified with Debio. Included in this process is the fact that the coffee is produced in a just system, that the workers receive the payment they are entitled to, and that the coffee production has minimal impact on the environment. These factors help create a safer, more secure life for the coffee farmer, and constitute security for the customers.
The company is currently owned 50% by REMA Industrier and 50% by Kjeldsberg Invest. The yellow products are found in both large and small institutional households, all kiosks in REITAN CONVENIENCE and, last but not least, in REMA 1000’s shops around the country.
We have no plans to stop there. In fact, our goal is no less modest than becoming the very best company within the coffee sector – and for Kjeldsberg, that means best on taste, quality, craftsmanship, and best on responsibility.

Good chicken awardFor most Norwegians, the Stange brand is synonymous with craftmanship and quality. Fantastic raw materials from chicken, duck and turkey, as well as sauces and tasteful “oven-ready” products are waiting for you in shop shelves all across Norway. Stange aims to make it easier for our customers to succeed in their cooking endeavours, and create positive culinary experiences.
The story started back in 1989. In the beginning, only select restaurants and renowned chefs in Oslo could purchase Stange’s juicy free-range chickens. Over time, more and more people started asking for the juicy chickens from the small producer just outside Tønsberg. Greater demand also led to broader distribution. REMA 1000 has been an exclusive partner since 2013, and its shopkeepers have carried the entire Stange product assortment.
The philosophy has always been to produce the most excellent raw materials. A product from Stange will always be pure, safe and honest, and of the very best quality.
All of our Stange farms, 9 so far, have buildings equipped with the best and newest equipment to ensure an optimal formative environment. The chickens have an enriched environment including roosts and bales of straw to ensure that they have a varied surface, and thus also an opportunity to better develop their musculature. They always have access to natural daylight and to their own conservatories so they can move about freely in a controlled and varied environment, year-round.
Time and space are two important factors for achieving first-class quality. A chicken from Stange gets plenty of both, as our chicken race takes longer to grow to full size, which results in meat of the best quality.
One of the secrets behind the good taste lies in the feed. To bring out the best result, several of Norway’s best cooks and chefs have cooperated with our local mill to adapt the feed we give to our chickens. The feed is made up of pure vegetable ingredients, wheat, oats, corn, broad beans and rapeseed. When you add the fact that, at Stange, we spend a lot of time finding the best herbs and spices for our raw material, the result is extra-good taste.
Quality is more than just good feed and growth conditions, it’s also about how we cut and filet the chicken. In our business, all raw materials are cut by hand. That doesn’t just mean neater cuts and pieces, but also that quality is checked by many pairs of eyes before the products end up in the shops.
Stange constantly seeks out new and better ways to develop; both in terms of taste and raw materials, but also the surroundings we are a part of, and impact. Our philosophy has always been about taking care of both animals and the natural environment. Sustainability is a long-term thought process, where the focus is on future generations.
The farms we work with are operated in accordance with sustainability principles that result in a small climate footprint throughout the entire value chain. The span from farm to production is short, and measures have been implemented in the actual production process to ensure a low carbon footprint.
Stange always strives to use environmentally-friendly alternatives when it comes to packaging. Among other things, our efforts have reduced the use of plastic as much as possible, without coming at the expense of food safety. Environmentally-friendly cardboard packaging is also used in our boxes.
Reducing food waste is also important. That’s why Stange offers many smart alternatives for smaller households, making it easier for everyone to prepare food.
Stange’s future ambition is to further develop the brand so the customer can find tempting products based on other animal races under our brand name. We aim to continue our work to help create even more positive culinary experiences.

WebsiteWhile most other breweries in other medium-sized Norwegian towns have been bought up, Grans remains in private hands – and is run by the third generation of the same family. In October 2005, the Reitan Group bought into the company, thus securing 50% ownership of the brewery. The Gran family owns the remaining 50%.
It all started with Guttorm Gran senior: the man who, in the mid-1960s, went straight for the throat of Oslo breweries by dialling back prices and opening factory sales outlets. The result was turnover multiplied many times over. Since then, Grans has continued to challenge its competitors. What was once a small, local brewery has gradually become one of Norway’s most modern production facilities. And the factory outlet has moved onto the shelves of REMA 1000.Today, Grans bottles beer, soda and mineral water to suit every taste – whether you prefer your soda with or without sugar, Taffel natural, or fruit-infused iced tea. Each bottling run is carefully monitored by the company laboratory, where taste, colour and content are checked before the products are cleared for sale. With these routines in place, customers can rest assured that they will get first-class quality in all our products.
To protect the environment, Grans Bryggeri has offered products with recycled plastic packaging since 2013. This change translates into 550 tonnes less new plastic production each year. A common feature of bestsellers like Tropo, Champ, Cola and Cola X from Grans is that they all use packaging containing 50 per cent recycled plastic.

Taffel is pure, crystal-clear water, with just a moderate touch of carbonation and aroma. A couple of the varieties have added minerals, which results in a well-balanced mineral water. Taffel is a natural choice to go with all types of food, and it’s also a perfect thirst-quencher. The design is inspired by lovely old crystal carafes. The product is an attractive addition to a well-laid table, for both regular and festive meals.

Cola X is our largest soda product, and that says quite a bit! We think it’s proof that many people have realised that content and taste are what really matters. If you are one of those who has discovered that Grans Cola X is at least as good as its more famous competitors, then congratulations! Cola X has the classic good cola taste and should be experienced, tested, or go ahead and do a blind product test. The Americans can say whatever they want, but the best cola comes from Sandefjord.
SIESTA/SIESTA X
Siesta just might be our greatest classic! It has a bit less carbonation than many other orange-flavoured sodas, which means that the soft, sweet taste of oranges becomes a bit fuller. Perfect as a thirst-quencher, or when you want a treat in your daily routine. Everyone should relax a bit and enjoy a little Siesta every day, it’s good for your health.
SINGO/SINGO X
We think (in all modesty) that Singo is the king of all lemon/lime-flavoured sodas, and it was relaunched featuring a new design and a green bottle in 2018. A good, fresh-tasting mix of lime and lemon, with a generous portion of bubbles brings an immediate rush of happiness to all bodies, young and old! Singo has been with us since the 1960s, and if you grew up in a place where the closest Grans sales outlet was no more than a fast, five-hour walk away, then you are guaranteed to have strong memories of this soda.
TROPO
Tropo has plenty of fans, and a lot of hard work has been done in social media to bring it back. All the fans’ hard work has paid off, and Tropo has finally made a comeback. A tasty drink with a tropical flavour. Perfect as a thirst-quencher, or when you want an extra treat in your daily routine.
GRANS JULEBRUS/JULEBRUS X (CHRISTMAS SODA)
Grans’ traditional Christmas soda. A good price and good taste, hallmarks of all Grans sodas.
GRANS ISTE/ISTE X (ICED TEA)
With peach flavour. Enjoy it ice-cold, available year-round.
CHAMP/CHAMP X
Our fruity pride and joy. THE SODA OF CHAMPIONS. A delicate, sparkling beverage with fruity flavour. If you just give it some thought, there’s always something to celebrate and every day becomes festive! Good as a thirst-quencher, irreplaceable in kids’ parties. Champ is quite simply a classic for anyone who takes their soda seriously.
GRANS CIDER/CIDER X
Soda flavoured with apple and grape. It might well be Norway’s best and most elegant cider. Can’t be described, must be experienced!
GRANS ØL (BEER)
Grans has brewed beer for more than 120 years, with genuine passion and enthusiasm. Grans produces several varieties in the Grans series, the BARE series and the Lade Gaard series. In 2020, Grans built a modern new facility, and what just might be Norway’s most outstanding and modern brewery was ready for production in the fall of 2020. All of the old recipe methods have been upgraded, and the Grans series was relaunched with a new design in winter 2021.
